What Is It:
Located in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada, Vortex is a wellness studio that uses high-tech equipment for the purpose of self-care. Consisting of eight services, each offered in private pods, sessions last anywhere from 10-60 minutes and target a range of self-care facets including relaxation, recovery, performance enhancement, physical rejuvenation, and overall well-being.
Cost: $$
Prices are on-par, and in some cases more cost effective, than traditional hands-on treatments. Packages and memberships are also available.
The Experience
“I tried Red Light Therapy, which was a 10-minute session in red and near-read infrared light waves meant to activate energy production, reduce inflammation, and enhance skin health. Vortex also includes curated playlists so the time flies by. Get comfy with your body–it’s recommended you’re in your birthday suit for this one!
Next was Tune, vibroacoustic performance technology that produces medical-grade frequencies that tune the body to its optimal state in 15 minutes. Laid out on a comfy bed, I selected my intended vibe and listened to sounds while feeling vibrations. A totally relaxing experience.
My favorite session was NuCalm, a neuroacoustic system that guides your brain into a stress-free state in minutes. When Daniel, one of the owners, told me 30 minutes of NuCalm was equivalent to a three-hour nap, I was sold. Spoiler alert: He was right. After cozying up and drifting off to relaxing sounds for half an hour, I felt like a new person.”
The Verdict
“High-tech self-care is a fast, effective, affordable way to manage stress as an insanely busy person. Even if you’ve only got 10 minutes, you can recharge quickly and get back to your day. I can’t wait to try all of Vortex’s other treatments!”
