When most people imagine themselves over 50, they often don’t think of it as a prime time in their life–but Ellis King aka King Cuz, the 52-years-young retired Navy veteran and owner of the virtual fitness program, 50 and Fit, is helping his clients reconsider that thought.
“[At 50] I started a fitness program to show people my age that you can be healthy even after 50,” he noted in an interview with ICONFit. “And to be totally honest through better diet and exercise, in a lot of ways I feel better now than I did even in my 30s–and I believe other people can experience this too which is my main goal with 50 and Fit.”
Two years in the making and King continues to have a burning passion for sharing his positive outlook on aging with others, and though he works with clients of all ages, his main clientele is those around his age or above.
“They see me and they are just so impressed with how I keep myself in shape at my age. They want to know what my secret is and I tell them, there’s no secret it’s just dedication.”
King says his Navy experience is what taught him everything there is to know about dedication and high-intensity workouts–which he claims is still his specialty today.
“I know my personal workouts are not for the faint of heart, and that’s okay. There are so many ways to achieve good results and I help clients do just that no matter what kind of intensity they can handle.”
What’s more, King is doing things a little differently than most–he only offers his services virtually to give his clients the opportunity to work out under his supervision and learn good techniques in the comfort of their own homes.
“[Doing virtual classes] is one of the best decisions I have ever made. It allows me to help people all over the world, in different time zones, and from different ethnicities–right from their living room, and they love it too.”
So far, King has helped dozens of men and women all over the world achieve healthier lifestyles and a more positive outlook on aging through his coaching. He has no plans on slowing down anytime soon, rather, King hopes in the near future he will soon partner with other fitness and health experts to offer even more to his clients.
